LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Temple B’nai Abraham Men’s Club (TBA MC) is hosting its annual Sports Speaker breakfast series on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the temple, located at 300 E. Northfield Road in Livingston. This year, TBA announced that Victor Cruz, former New York Giant and Super Bowl XVLI Champion, will be the guest speaker for this event.

Breakfast and check-in begin at 9 a.m., and the program is at 10 a.m. This annual event brings together the TBA and Livingston communities in an effort to bring an intriguing sports speaker to the temple to be heard in front of all and enjoy breakfast cooked by Men’s Club members.

All are welcome to attend. To purchase tickets, visit www.tbanj.org.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, and children under eight are admitted free.

American football receiver Victor Cruz was born on Nov. 11, 1986, in Paterson, NJ. A standout high school athlete, Cruz eventually starred for the University of Massachusetts football team. After going undrafted in 2010, Cruz signed with his hometown New York Giants.

With injuries plaguing the Giants' receivers at the start of the 2011 season, Cruz was thrust into the starting lineup. He wasted little time taking advantage of the situation.

For the regular season, Cruz led the club in receptions and set a club record in receiving yards. Who can forget his week 16 play verses the New York Jets, where he tied an NFL record with an explosive 99-yard touchdown catch, which became a turning point for the NY Giants Championship season?

In the NFC title game against the San Francisco 49ers, Cruz caught 10 balls for 142 yards. In Super Bowl XLVI, Cruz helped steer the Giants to victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Cruz proved to be one of the media darlings during the Giants' Super Bowl run. He earned particular notice for his celebrated salsa touchdown dance, which he said he did in honor of his late grandmother. He played with the New York Giants through the 2016 season.

Join TBA for a hot breakfast cooked by Men’s Club members during the program. There will also be an *autograph signing opportunity with Cruz. (*Autographs limited to one item per person and subject to time.)

Craig Kantor, Rob Stecklow, Andy Sonnenberg, Evan Mason, Scott Wolfson, Carey Gertler and Mitch Katz are members of MC Sports Breakfast Committee. Brian Altman is TBA Men’s Club President.

February 8, 2018

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
