LIVINGSTON, NJ — New Livingston residents and those considering a move to town will learn about what Livingston has to offer at the township’s annual “Welcome to Livingston Picnic” on Monday, Sept. 12 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The event will be held rain or shine at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, lower level indoors. The Mayor and Township Council, Educators from Livingston Public Schools, and a variety of community groups will be on hand to greet guests and answer any questions they might have.

“[The event] is important so that people know what’s available to them to help them get acclimated and involved in the town,” said Schmidt, the new Human Services Coordinator. “It’s been nice for me as a new employee to learn about all of the organizations, so I can see why it’s such a good event for new residents.”

Schmidt describes the picnic as a casual environment where guests will meet town officials as well as representatives from organizations like the League of Women Voters, Senior Youth and Leisure Services, the Jewish Community Center, the Livingston Police Department and more. Local restaurants have also donated food for the event, which Schmidt said makes it a real community event.

Those interested should RSVP by calling 973-535-7961, ext. 231, or via email: kschmidt@livingstonnj.org with a name, address and the number of guests attending.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
