LIVINGSTON, NJ — Officers from the West Caldwell, Roseland and Livingston police departments were among the area law enforcement involved in a motor vehicle pursuit of two stolen cars early Sunday morning.

West Caldwell observed two stolen BMWs on Westfield Avenue, police said. As West Caldwell officers approached, both vehicles took off toward Roseland.

One of the suspect vehicles went up into a driveway on Eagle Rock Avenue in Roseland, where one suspect was taken into custody and a second suspect fled on foot. According to Roseland police, the second stolen vehicle escaped the area.

The Livingston Police Department then received a call of a suspicious person on Dorsa Avenue in the area of the Atlantic Health Patient Transport Center around 5 a.m., according to Livingston police. The caller reported that the suspicious individual was asking to use a phone.

The individual was apprehended with the help of Roseland and East Hanover police, and was identified as the individual who had fled on foot from the Roseland crash.

West Caldwell police then arrived and arrested him. No one was injured in this incident, and two people are currently in custody.

According to Roseland police, the recovered vehicle had been reported stolen out of Morristown.
