WEST ORANGE, NJActing Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and West Orange Police Chief James P. Abbott announced today that the West Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the death of a male.

Earlier today, West Orange Police responded to a call of an unresponsive man who appeared to be in his 20s outside of 1 Joyce Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:30 a.m. The victim’s name is not being released at this time pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.

The cause of death is pending autopsy but the victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

At this time, no arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing. Additional information will be released as it become available.
