LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Japanese traditions of New Year’s Day and Wabi-Sabi will be the topic of the next Livingston Historical Society meeting on Monday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue.

Livingston resident Akiko Noguchi will introduce us to the most important holiday in her Japanese culture: New Year’s Day. This holiday takes place on Jan. 1 and is observed closely with traditional values of family and home.

She will also discuss the Japanese aesthetics of Wabi-Sabi, which is sometimes described as discovering beauty in nature and in life’s imperfection and transience.
