Coping with Mid-Life: Crisis or Transition?

This workshop held in at the Livingston Public Library in partnership with ACAP (Academy of Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis) of Livingston on Thursday April 2nd at 12 noon, will provide a discussion on what may cause a mid-life crisis, and some strategies for beginning to transform a crisis into a growth experience.

Topics that will be covered include: how to improve relationships with others, decide whether to stay in a marriage, talk about the disappointments and challenges, decide what they want the future to look like, find meaning in life’s changes, identify new goals and establish better relationships with adult children and others.

Presented by George Grant, who has an MA in Mental Health Counseling from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, has earned his Psychoanalytic Certificate (the terminal degree in psychoanalysis) at ACAP, has retired from teaching, works part time at the JCNV and Grace Counseling, has a growing clinical practice, and has been one of the founding members of i-Strive, a program for high-functioning young adults on the spectrum who have aged-out of other programs.

A branch campus of the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis in Livingston, NJ (BGSP-NJ), in partnership with ACAP, offers graduate, post-graduate, certificate and Continuing Education classes in Psychodynamic Studies and Mental Health Counseling on the Livingston, NJ campus and through distance learning.

ACAP has been continuously, nationally accredited by ABAP, the American Board for Accreditation in Psychoanalysis, since 1990. Their programs provide alternative paths to mental health careers, as well as courses meeting professional continuing education requirements. Many students from all backgrounds — educators, clergy, medical professionals, counselors, veterans and more — not seeking a degree or certification take classes to build clinical skills or for personal growth.

The program is free and open to all.
