Featured Artist to Present Demonstration at Essex Water Color Club Meeting

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Essex Water Color Club (EWCC) will be hosting a watercolor demonstration by Mel Stabin of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) on Sunday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at the Livingston Senior Community Center (204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston). 

All are welcome to attend.  The event is free for EWCC members and $5 for non-members and guests.  Refreshments will be served.

Stabin is an internationally known teacher, author, and award-winning watercolorist. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Stabin studied watercolor with Edgar Whitney.

For more than 30 years, Stabin was an art director and creative director for major advertising agencies in New York City. For more than 25 years, he has conducted watercolor workshops with groups on location throughout the country and abroad.  

Stabin is a signature member of prestigious national art societies including the AWS, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, where he received Master Status, North East Watercolor Society, New Jersey Watercolor Society, and Georgia Watercolor Society. His paintings have received numerous awards and have been represented in major national and international exhibition, and are in many private and corporate collections.  Mel has written numerous feature articles for American Artist, The Artist's Magazine, Watercolor Artist, Watercolor Magic, and Watercolor.  He is the author of Watercolor: Simple, Fast, and Focused and The Figure In Watercolor: Simple, Fast, and Focused, published by Watson-Guptill.  

EWCC, now in its 86th year, represents water media artists from across New Jersey and provides a meeting environment to promote the exchange of ideas, to support the development of artistic technique, and to encourage an interest in water media in the community through workshops, art excursions, a free video library, a newsletter highlighting member news and art opportunities, six regular meetings a year featuring demonstrations by well-known artists, and two-to-three exhibiting member shows a year in prominent public spaces at no additional fees. 

Meetings are held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, September through December, plus March and April, at the Livingston Community/ Senior Center, 204 Hillside Ave., Livingston, NJ.  For more information about the club, visit http://ewcclub.com/.
