Raising Resilient Girls

“Raising Resilient Girls” with special guest Simone Marean is being presented Tuesday, October 1, 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Middle School by the Livingston Municipal Alliance Committee and Livingston Public Schools.

Marean, executive director and co-founder of the Girls Leadership Institute (GLI), will be sharing her expertise, with parents, teachers and others, on how to help girls with assertive self-expression, emotional intelligence and healthy relationships and preparation for a life of personal and societal leadership.

She will also cover developmental dynamics of girls from preschool through high school to include; how and why girls are aggressive with one another, the “Good Girl” phenomenon, avoiding victimization, the power of emotional intelligence, the importance of mistakes, the limitations of blame, and seeing conflict as an opportunity for change.

The general public is welcome and admission is free.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — In a 48-7 victory over Millburn on Sept. 10, Tyrell Garnes, a junior receiver/kickoff returner for the Livingston High School football team, had four receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
