St. Peter’s Episcopal Church to Offer Pet Blessing

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Livingston will offer a Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, September 29 at the regular 10am service of Holy Eucharist in celebration of St. Francis Day.

St. Francis, who lived in the 13th century and founded the religious order of the Franciscans, was legendary for his love of animals.  We invite all interested children and adults to bring their beloved friends to receive a special blessing.  Any kind of animal is welcome from fish to cats and dogs; we ask that all pets be either kept on leash or in a carrier or cage. If you do not feel that your pet would do well at the service, you are welcome to bring a photo to be blessed. Toy stuffed animals are also welcome.

St. Peter’s also asks everyone who comes to bring pet food or pet products which will be donated to the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter.

Refreshments for both pets and their owners will be available after the service.

Wait. What?

Don’t you have homework to do?

My teenage daughter is watching TV, texting, facetiming, instagramming, listening to music, and typing on a laptop all at the same time.

Don’t you have homework to do?  I have to repeat myself a little louder because she is insulated in her electronic cocoon by ear buds.

“I am doing homework,” ...
