LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston Mayor Michael Silverman, Livingston Town Council members and other town employees and friends gathered on Oct. 1 to celebrate Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa’s inaugural ribbon cutting. As Silverman joined the staff to snip the celebratory ribbon, co-owner Jeff Silbert expressed his excitement about the amount of support he and his brother, Ken, have gotten from the Livingston community.

The Silbert brothers, who have a 10-town deal with the rapidly-expanding franchise, opened the massage and facial spa at 277 Eisenhower Pkwy expecting it to be a prime location. With the Fresh Market within the same strip of businesses and an abundance of townspeople eager for an hour to themselves, Jeff said the spa’s location in Livingston has been a rapid success.

“It makes you feel good when you come in that the citizens and the people that work in the town want you to succeed and want to support you,” said Jeff. “The town of Livingston is very welcoming—it’s good for the business owners, it’s good for the managers and it’s good for the staff to know that people want you here.”

Staff-member Alyssa Donadio, who is familiar with the Essex County area, said she is impressed not only by the sanitary, state-of-the-art conditions of the spa, but also with the support she and the other employees have gotten from the Livingston community and Hand & Stone members. Having opened three locations this year, including spas in Clifton and Pompton Lakes, the owners spoke very highly of their Livingston staff and expressed their excitement for the future of the Livingston Hand & Stone.

“Livingston is what we see as very much the prototypical Hand & Stone community,” Hand & Stone President and CEO Todd Leff told TAP into Livingston. “We’ve been very successful throughout New Jersey in similar communities and with the membership program, we’re able to make it affordable for people to come every single month and take an hour to de-stress and take care of themselves.”

According to Jeff, the Livingston location is especially convenient because its location next to the Fresh Market allows Hand & Stone members the opportunity to enjoy an hour of relaxation, pick up their groceries and be home within a reasonable time to go about the rest of their day.

The Silbert brothers believe in the company’s mission to relieve the stresses of daily life. Jeff said a membership at Hand & Stone is a necessary and affordable luxury that allows members to take care of themselves once a month.

According to Jeff, he and his brother feel extremely fortunate to be able to have such an impact on a number of people each day. He also said they are looking forward to being a citizen of the community for a long time to come.

“We want to make this one of the best hours of the month, that’s the goal every single time,” Jeff said at the ribbon cutting. “If it’s your best hour of the month, that’s what you’re going to keep doing.”

Letter to the Editor: Don't Complain. Vote!

April 12, 2018

Don’t Complain; Vote!

It’s no secret that people have strong feelings about what’s happening in our country. It’s also true that much of politics is local. In November, 11th District residents will have the opportunity to choose a new congressional representative who will not only serve as a critical check on the federal level, but also determine how our distract fares ...

Cluelessly Clueless

I teenaged my way through high school under the assumption that my parents had no idea what I was doing.  I like to think I was pretty good at withholding information and presenting situations in ways that were other than they really were.

Still, sometimes they found things out.  Like the time my friends plopped me on our front door step at one o'clock in the morning ...
