LIVINGSTON, NJ — As an unintended consequence of the coronavirus COVID-19 public health crisis, blood and platelet supplies have dropped to dangerously low levels. In response, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Township of Livingston have teamed up to host two blood and platelet drives.
"Please help us keep our communities blood supply strong during these very difficult times," Saint Barnabas Medical Center said in a public statement. "Social distancing and additional disinfecting guidelines are in place at all blood drives. Your health and safety is our top priority."
The drives will be held on Friday, April 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday, April 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at Livingston Senior and Community Center (lower-level main entrance at 204 Hillside Avenue).
Appointments are required and can be made at www.rwjuhdonorclub.org or by calling (732) 235-8100 ext. 221 or 248. Participants should bring a photo identification and be sure to eat and drink prior to donating.
