LIVINGSTON, NJ — Members of the Livingston High School (LHS) Future Physicians and Nurses Club and the LHS Crochet and Knitting Club as well as some LHS staff members recently crocheted and knitted 30 little red hats to donate to “Little Hats, Big Hearts,” an annual drive conducted by the American Heart Association.

The hand-made “tiny toppers” will be distributed to maternity/birthing wards in local hospitals and given to mothers of newborns in February as part of National Healthy Heart Month.

LHS science teachers Jessica Rettagliata and Bobbi Bremmer serve as advisor to the Crochet and Knitting Club and advisor to the Future Physicians and Nurses Club, respectively. In a joint statement, the two said they were very proud of these students, some of whom had never crocheted or knitted prior to this volunteer-based experience.

“These hats are gorgeous and will help make a newborn’s head nice and toasty this coming February,” they said.
