LIVINGSTON, NJ — Just prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Livingston UNICO chapter met in person to present awards to former mayor Al Anthony and resident Billy Fine, chairman of the Livingston Committee for Diversity and Inclusion, for their leadership in getting the township to raise the Italian flag for the first time ever in Livingston in October.

In addition to raising the flag, the township also marked Livingston UNICO’s 65th anniversary during the inaugural Italian Heritage Celebration Ceremony, which Anthony called “a monumental night” that encouraged residents to “honor, respect and embrace different cultures and ethnicities that make up our great town and nation.

“Our differences and inclusion makes us stronger than all other towns,” said Anthony, who also spoke highly of the local UNICO chapter and its mission to raise funds for various charities that assist those in need both locally and internationally.
