LIVINGSTON, NJ — For the 11th year, Saint Barnabas Medical Center (SBMC) and Regal Bank have both made donations to support this Tuesday’s National Night Out event in Livingston. The free community event—featuring helicopter landings, K9 Units, rides, games, a DJ, face painting, balloon sculptures and more—begins with an opening ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at the Livingston Memorial Oval.

Free hot dogs, pizza and drinks will be provided, with members of the Livingston police and fire departments manning the grills and pizza being donated by many of Livingston’s pizzerias.

The Livingston Fire Department will also be setting up an area where children can be showered with water from a fire truck in addition to a helicopter landings, a visit from K9 units and emergency personnel from many law enforcement and public safety entities that will be on hand to showcase their equipment.

National Night Out festivities are held nationwide and are meant to increase awareness about police anti-crime programs that are taking place in communities. This event promotes various crime prevention programs including: neighborhood watch groups; residential and business security surveys; and crime prevention tips. Last year, over 37 million people in all 50 states, as well as U.S. territories, Canada and military bases worldwide participated in the yearly event.

The event is also supported by donations from Neil H. A free raffle will allow participants to enter to win prizes donated by Karig’s Livingston Hardware, Livingston Car Wash, Bee Bee Designs and others. There will also be displays from various local organizations and businesses.
