LIVINGSTON, NJ — Two weeks following the successful second annual Pick It Up! Livingston event on April 22, the Livingston mayor and council recognized the organization team on Monday to thank them for continuing the community-wide spring-cleaning initiative.
Shira Rost and Diana Lyell accepted the council's proclamation on behalf of the organization committee, which also included Cari Adelson, Lisa Brodsky, Barbara Pinkham, Hayley Prochazka and Alice Stein. They thanked the township, the committee and the approximately 300 participants who volunteered their time on a Sunday morning to help “clean up Livingston and make it beautiful again.”
“To have a second event was beautiful to see,” said Lyell, who also acknowledged the middle school and high school clubs, the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and other organizations that helped at the event.
“We thank both of you and your entire committee for organizing and all the hard work you did a few Sundays ago for our second annual Pick it Up, where we cleaned up six different areas of Livingston,” said Mayor Ed Meinhardt. “We had a lot of collaboration with the DPW (department of public works), the Livingston Police Department and a couple-hundred volunteers making Livingston beautiful.”
Meinhardt added that he hopes the hundreds of participants’ dedication, time and effort put into ensuring the success of this event encourages all Livingston residents to “continue to demonstrate pride in their community.”
