LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston residents 18 and older are encouraged to join the Livingston Health Department’s free Winter Walking Club, which is currently meeting every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. through March 27.

Participants meet at the front second-floor entrance of Lord & Taylor inside the Livingston Mall and walk the length of the mall at their own pace for an hour. According to the health department, each circular lap around the second level is about 0.25 miles.

“Walking is a great way to get some exercise and offers many health benefits: it can help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce joint pain, improve balance, lower the risk of high blood pressure and more,” the department states about the winter activity.

Pre-registration for the Walking Club is required. For more information or to register for the next walk, contact Health Educator Jessica Kelly at 973-535-7961 ext. 227 or jekelly@livingstonnj.org.
