LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Kiwanis Club of Livingston has partnered with the West Essex YMCA to host an outdoor community event to benefit Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s annual Cycle for Survival on Saturday, May 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the tent on the front lawn of the West Essex YMCA at 321 South Livingston Avenue.

Many Livingston residents and organizations support life-saving cancer research that this locally founded charity has funded each year by participating in the in-person rides sponsored by Cycle for Survival at the Summit Equinox

Although the in-person event has been canceled again this year due to the pandemic, a virtual ride scheduled for May 15 will coincide with the event at the West Essex YMCA.

Local teams are encouraged to ride together at this no-cost equity event. Teams that have registered to ride during the virtual event are also encouraged to ride with Livingston Kiwanis and the Y. There is no minimum donation required to ride.

Teams may arrive to the event beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Impact Ceremony will simulcast at 11:30am on the big screen followed by an in-person group Spinning class from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants should bring their own towel, water bottle and mask. Light refreshments will be provided.

COVID-19 health and safety protocols will be in place, including a health screening and completion of a waiver upon arrival, wearing a mask when social distancing is not possible, cleaning bikes between use and sanitizing hands before riding.

In the event of inclement weather in the forecast, the ride will be canceled and notice will be given no later than 9:30 a.m. on May 15 via Email to all participants.

Those unable to register for the event are encouraged to make a monetary donation to the Livingston Kiwanis Cycle for Survival page.

Although all proceeds will go toward Cycle for Survival, this event is not affiliated with Equinox Gym or Cycle for Survival
