EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Drowning was named the cause of death for three East Brunswick residents who perished in their home's above-ground swimming pool earlier this week.
Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief Frank LoSacco of the East Brunswick Police Department (EBPD) announced that Bharat Patel, 62, his 33-year-old daughter-in-law Nisha Patel, and her 8-year-old daughter, who all reside at the home in East Brunswick, have been identified as the victims.
East Brunswick police responded to the residence located at 43 Clearview Road at approximately 4:18 p.m. on June 22 and found the three victims unresponsive in the pool. Despite efforts by the EBPD to resuscitate the family members, they were pronounced dead shortly after being found, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
The Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the manner of death as accidental and the cause of death to be drowning for all three victims.
According to the Zillow listing, the home was a recent purchase, having been taken off the market on April 30, 2020.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Kimberly DiParisi of the EBPD at (732) 390-6900 or Det. Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3927.
