LIVINGSTON, NJ — Applications are now available for the Livingston Police Department’s (LPD) second Citizens Police Academy, a free 11-week program designed to give participants an understanding of the operation of the LPD and a working knowledge of what law enforcement entails.
Participants must be at least 21 years of age and reside or work in the Township of Livingston. Classes will be held every Thursday from Sept. 5 to Nov. 21, excluding Oct. 31, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Those interested are encouraged to register early, as the class will be limited to 25 students.
According to the department, the hope is that the instruction will strengthen police-community rapport through an educational process, increase understanding of police practices and procedures and dispose of misconceptions. The LPD, in turn, intends to become more aware of the concerns and questions of the community it serves. Click HERE to read about last year's inaugural program.
Applications can be picked up at the LPD at 333 S. Livingston Ave. or online by clicking HERE.
The deadline to submit applications for the 2019 class is July 22, 2019. For further information, contact Officer Joy Klapal at email@example.com or (973) 992-3000 ext. 3229.
