LIVINGSTON, NJ — A ShopRite employee was arrested by Livingston police on Jan. 4 after police were alerted to a fight in progress at the supermarket.
According to police, the two individuals—Wataysha Williams, 21, of East Orange, and Nazhay Bryant, 21, of Newark—were already separated when officers arrived.
Investigation revealed that the fight was the result of a disagreement over break times. Bryant, a front-end supervisor, had questioned Williams about not following company policy on breaks, and Williams retaliated by unleashing several punches to Bryant’s head and face, police said.
According to police, a review of surveillance video confirmed that Williams was the aggressor. Store displays were also knocked over during the fight.
Williams was arrested, charged with simple assault and released with a summons pending court action. Bryant was transported to the hospital with a complaint of dizziness.
