LIVINGSTON, NJ -- The Livingston girls basketball team pulled away in the second quarter and went on to defeat Whippany Park, 47-30 in the home opener on Saturday.

Aliza Gelman scored 12 points for the Lancers (2-0), who outcored Whippany Park, 13-5, in the second quarter to take a 24-14 halftime lead.

Ava Intile finished with 10 points and five rebounds in the victory. Sarah Cullen contributed four assists and four steals, and Hailey Reuter totaled eight points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for Livingston, which opened a 39-23 lead after a 15-9 showing in the third quarter.
