LIVINGSTON, NJ -- The Livingston 11U baseball team opened play in the Little League State Tournament Saturday morning with an 8-0 loss to Madison in the blistering heat.

In the double-elimination format, the Lancers now must win against either Brick Township or Millville when they play Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the Livingston Little League Complex at 109 Meadowbrook Road.

The Lancers reached the tournament by winning the District 8 and Section 2 tournaments earlier in the month. Anyone planning to attend Sunday's game is advised to get there early to get a parking space. Parking is limited, and many vehicles were parked several blocks away on Saturday for the event.

The Lancers completed a three-game sweep to win the Section 2 Championship, beating Hoboken, 5-1, in Fort Lee on Monday night to qualify for the state tournament, which Livingston happens to be hosting.
