WEST ORANGE, NJ -- Three members of the Livingston High School wrestling team grappled their way to the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Region 3 tournament this weekend.

Stratos Kantanas, Max Lee and Aidan Carmody all advanced through the first two rounds of the tournament, contested over three days--Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

At 170 pounds, Kantanas, seeded fifth, defeated Alex Amoromim of Kearny, 14-2, in the opening round, then won an 11-8 quarterfinal decison over Aidan Watson of Morristown in the quarterfinals. Kantanas went out to Kieran Calvetti of Delbarton, 10-3, in the semifinals.

At 152, Lee, also a fifth seed, defeated Armani Nunez of Cliffside Park, 6-1, in the first round. In the quarterfinals, Lee decisioned Peter Harvick of Nutley, 5-4. Lee's run came to a close with a 5-1 loss to Dylan Weaver of Lyndhurst in the semis.

At 106 pounds, Carmody, another fifth seed, won a major decision over Franco Graffeo of Nutley, 14-1, in the first round. Carmody decisioned Shawn Redfield of Warren Hills, 10-7, in the quarters. Hunter Lensi of Belvidere defeated Carmody, 10-3, in the semifinals.
