Bala Cynwyd, PA — The CVS store in Bala Cynwyd was robbed on January 17, 2019, by a man claiming to have a gun and threatening to shoot an employee, according to Lower Merion Police officials.

Lower Merion Police was called to the CVS store at 101 W. City Avenue at 10:22 PM.  Dispatchers reported a theft in progress. While officers were on the way to the call the 911 dispatch center added “man with gun” to the call information.

Arriving at the scene, officers were told that a 6-foot tall man in his 50’s, with a mask on his face, had been confronted in the store by a CVS employee.  According to police reports, when the employee confronted the man, the suspect shouted at the employee that he was armed with a gun and if he tried to stop him the employee would “get his ass shot.”

A female guard at the store reported watching the suspect grab large quantities of multiple personal care items into two large green trash bags and then he fled the store.

A gun was never actually seen.  

The police report that the suspect's haul was worth $1220. He was last seen heading on foot east on City Avenue heading into Philadelphia. Lower Merion Police Department asked that anyone with information on this incident contact them immediately at 610-649-1000.
