Ardmore, Lower Merion Township, PA — Governor Wolf will be speaking at the grand opening of the once controversial Dranoff property, Ardmore One on Cricket Avenue. Wolf will be the main speaker of a list of political dignitaries.
According to the Governor's press office, Wolf will be speaking at 11:00 AM and then former Governor Edward Rendell will follow.
Ardmore One was nearly 13 years in the making. The mixed-use building has 110, one, two and three bedroom rental apartments. The 4 story structure is described as a Mid-rise building (under 5 floors), and there are roughly 8450 square feet of ground floor retail and parking for 337 vehicles.
The save Ardmore coalition was formed to fight the project. Lawsuits were filed. Ardmore neighbors businesses, residents wanted to fight the project because of its high density and its location. Others wanted to fight it strictly because of the amount of state funds that were to be used over $10 million from the redevelopment assistance, capital program.
Construction on the building has caused headaches to area residents and businesses as the construction took parking spots away and closed throughways to traffic.
