Narberth, Lower Merion Township, PA — Family, and friends of John Le are one step closer to the end of a nightmare that started when John Le was gunned down in July 2017.  His killer was found guilty of first-degree murder on Thursday.

A motive for the murder was never really established.  It was reported that the now-convicted murderer, Derrick H. Rollins did not know and had no relationship to the victim.

"Mr. Rollins now faces life in prison for ruthlessly gunning down the victim outside, leaving him for dead in the street," said District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland.

The fatal and what has been described as an unprovoked shooting occurred at about 6 PM Saturday on July 20, 2017, in an apartment in the 2300 block of Haverford Road in the Ardmore section of Haverford Township.

In the Overbrook Park section of Philadelphia shortly before the shooting in Haverford, Rollins fired 17 rounds at two other men who lived on 77th Street.  Overbrook Park, which is less than 5 miles from where Le’s murder occurred in Haverford Township.

Rollins reportedly fled the state after the shooting and was captured by US Marshals task force in Decatur, Georgia in August 2017.

"Chief Viola and the entire Haverford Township Police Department would like to express our thanks to everyone who assisted in bringing this subject to justice and helping provide some closure to the victim's family along with helping ease the minds of all the residents of our community," police said in a press release at the time.
