Villanova, Lower Merion Township, PA  — Lower Merion Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Old Gulph Road in Villanova Wednesday, April 10th at 3:02 PM for a reported burglary.,

Police official stated that a babysitter had left the premises at 9:45 AM and returned that afternoon at 2:44 PM.  It was soon after that that the babysitter realized a burglary had occurred.

The sitter found that in one bedroom a bag containing jewelry boxes had been left on the floor.  The Lower Merion Police did not describe the boxes. In an adjacent closet, more empty jewelry boxes were found on the floor.  All of the boxes in the closet had been emptied.

An extensive listing of missing jewelry was put together for the Police.  The value of the missing jewelry was approximately $75,000. Police described the jewelry as rings, earrings and other assorted pieces.

The police investigation yielded that a basement window had been pried open to gain entry.
