Ardmore, Lower Merion Township, PA — The Lower Merion School District has been honored with a "Best Communities for Music Education" (BCME) designation from The NAMM Foundation.
This year’s BCME honor marks the ninth consecutive year that the District has earned the award and the acknowledgment of the District’s outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students, according to Amy Buckman, Director of School and Community Relations for the District
The NAMM Foundation’s BCME recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education.
To qualify for BCME designation, the district needed to provide detailed answers to questions regarding funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction times, facilities and more. The responses are reviewed by the Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,300 members around the world. The foundation advances active participation in music making by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs.
