Ardmore, Lower Merion Township, PA — The LMSD has partnered with Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and is offering online summer classes using the Montgomery Virtual Program.  Registration has just started, and the registration deadline is May 10, 2019.

The online program is open only to LMSD students that attend LMSD schools.

According to the district, students seeking accelerated learning and those that need to repeat a course in which the student was not successful are eligible to participate in the summer school program.

The program is designed for students currently enrolled in grades six through 12 that are looking for options.

  • Credit recovery —  these courses are designed as makeup courses for students that fail during the regular school year.

  • Accelerated learning — designed to earn advanced credits,  to create more flexibility in the student schedule allowing a student the opportunity to better balance their course load during the following school year,

  • The Montgomery Virtual Program (MVP)  is only open to students who are enrolled and are attending LMSD Schools.

  • The online MVP courses will run from June 17 through August 2, 2019

The school district’s course offerings for the MVP program varies widely with courses in English, literature, history, science, chemistry, physics, algebra and geometry.

The cost of the courses ranges as low as $75 and as high as $1850 for a nonresident 4.5-hour course.

To participate in the program, the following requirements must be met:

  • Online MVP courses are only available to students that are currently attending LMSD schools.

  • Students must apply to the MVP program for accelerated learning or credit recovery by May 10, 2019.

  • Registration forms for all MVP classes must be signed by a counselor, or principal and also a parent.

  • Registration forms are available at the main office or student service offices for each middle and high school.

  • Additionally, online applicants must register online using the MVP portal which is currently open.

  • A nonrefundable registration fee of $75 must be made payable to the school district.

  • The hard copy registration must be turned into the school and it must include a proof of payment.

  • Students may only enroll for up to two MVP courses.

  • To be officially enrolled in the MVP program proof of payment for the registration fee and for tuition payment is required.
