Initially, there was a laundry list of charges against Valiquette, six felony charges including rape and a related misdemeanor charge.  Most of those charges were dismissed.

Valiquette was arrested on October 4 Haverford Township Police after an exhaustive joint investigation by Haverford Township Police Detective Mark Johnson and Delaware County Detective Edmond Pisani who also is part of the task force investigating  Internet Crimes Against Children.

The victim detailed to investigators how she had posted a comment on a social media application called “Whisper.” That comment made on April 22, 2018, indicated that she was depressed and had been fighting with her mother, authorities said.

A user of the app responded to the victim and engaged her in a conversation the two continued talking, and eventually, a man asked her to hang out and watch a movie.

The premise of the Whisper app is to allow users to “Whisper” post with their thoughts and feelings within the app.  Photos can also be shared.

Using the whisper application, the victim ended up agreeing to meet and provided her home address in Haverford Township.  The app showed that the man was only about ½ mile away.

About five minutes later the victim said the man arrived at her house and she let him in.  He wanted to see her bedroom and the teen obliged.

“Once inside, they went into her bedroom where the male began to choke her with both hands around her neck, and he pushed her onto the bed,” said official documents. “He then pulled off her shorts and forcibly raped her, and then left the residence” according to a release from Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun Copeland.”

Valiquette denied using any force and asserted that it was consensual.  He also told authorities that the victim had told him she was sixteen.

Valiquette will also serve five years of probation, which includes sex offender monitoring. He was ordered to supply the state police with a DNA sample.

As part of the plea deal, Valiquette is required to stay away from the victim, her high school, her home and another location not publicly disclosed.

He must report to the prison by May 6th
