They laced their sneakers. They pulled high ponytails. With pom-poms in hand, they took to the mats. And when the dust had settled at the end of the day, they took home top honors.
All three of the Methacton Warrior Youth Organization (Pop Warner) competitive cheer squads will advance to the regional level after Saturday’s Bux-Mont Competition and Fun Day hosted at Souderton High School.
The Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Junior Midget squads all placed a score high enough to qualify for the “next level” and are headed to the Eastern Regionals in Albany, N.Y.
“Way to go girls,” the organization’s Facebook page posted over the weekend. “All of our cheerleaders wowed the crowds. Methacton was a force to be reckoned with.”
In addition to the three competitive teams, both the Tiny Mites and Mighty Mites, the organization’s younger squads, demonstrated their skills, as well. The organization’s post called the youngsters show, which was not scored, “fierce.”
“Our parents all had tears in their eyes as all five squads represented us with passion and pride,” said the page. “The two first place trophies came home with us, and a fabulous second place victory [Saturday] for our three competitive squads.”
The Eastern Region Pop Warner Cheerleading Competition will be held at the Times Union Center in Albany on Nov. 14 to 16.
“Now onto regionals to keep the green wave of pride rolling,” said the organization’s page. “It was a fabulous day celebrating Methacton and all the hard work these girls put into our season so far! Go Warriors!”
