PWC Is Brewing Many October Events for All Ages

Wondering what to do now that fall has started, and you still have young ones at home? There are plenty of ways to work in some extra education, no matter what the age. Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy has plenty to see and do this autumnal season.

Here are just a few of the upcoming events. Please read each particular event’s needs for registration, cost and location.

 

1. “Blue Sky Friends”  A Pre-School Science Special (3-6 year olds)

The sun, moon and stars are beautiful to behold!  We’ll blend a bit of whimsy with facts as we learn about how they affect our sleeping, waking and growing!

Date:  Thursday, Oct. 9

Time:  1 to 2:15 p.m.

Fee:  $7 Members/$10 Non-Members.  Pre-registration Required.

2. Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy’s Annual Plump Pumpkins and Pizza Party! (Families, Students, Scouts, etc.)

Families, teens, staff, and seniors have a great time every year at this afternoon party!  Together, we carve pumpkins for the upcoming Halloween Hike trail, make luminaries, and enjoy the company of other friendly folk who volunteer at the Conservancy.  Moccia’s Train Stop provides mouth-watering pizza!  Bring your pumpkins, knives, scraping tools, a drink or dessert to share, and your happy Halloween spirit!

DateWednesday, Oct. 15

Time:  4:15 to 6 p.m.

Bring: One pumpkin per person to carve for the trail/a drink or dessert to share

Pre-registration required and must be received by Friday, Oct. 10.  There is a 50-carver maximum, so register early!

Location: The Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy’s Brownstone Barn Center, located on the corner of Route 73 and Haldeman Road, just outside of Schwenksville.

       3. Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy’s 24th Annual Halloween Night Hike!

Join us as we once again walk the pumpkin-lit path to meet five nocturnal animal families.  This annual event designed for children ages 3-9 and their families introduces participants to nocturnal animals in a fun and friendly way!  The hike finishes up with a campfire, refreshments and seasonal stories!  Wear your costume!

Dates: Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18

Rain date:  Sunday, Oct. 19

Time:  Hikes leave every 15 minutes beginning at 6:15 through 7:45 p.m.

Fee: Children:  $13 Member/ $15 Non-Member

Adults:  $7 Member/ $10 Non-Member

(Pre-registration with payment required.)

Location:  Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy’s Brownstone Barn and grounds.

4. Out & About Exploration SeriesTM: Wildflower Walk with Link Davis

Date:  Saturday, Oct. 25

Time:  9:30 a.m.

Fee:  Free!
