11 Vehicle Related Burglaries Reported in Madison and Chatham Saturday Night


MADISON, NJ - Throughout the night, Saturday August 20, Madison and Chatham Twp. experienced a high number of burglaries to automobiles, confirmed Lt. John Miscia of the Madison Police Department. 

The burglaries ranged from GPS systems, to cash, wallets, credit cards and tech equipment left inside vehicles.

All in all, 11 incidents of reported motor vehicle break-ins took place Saturday night at residents homes.

Areas hit in Madison were Garfield Ave, Shunpike, Fox Chase Road and surrounding. As well, Chatham thefts on the Chatham Twp side of Shunpike.  "These incidents seemed to be related", stated Miscia.

"On all accounts the vehicles were unlocked and very accessible to actors," added Miscia. "We would like to stress the importance of keeping car doors locked and secured."

This evening of incidents comes on the heals of a summer rash of auto and home burglaries in Madison and Chatham, including an armed robbery on Main Street in Chatham at a jewelry store.
