MADISON, NJ - More than 160 community donors this fall helped the Madison Area YMCA to meet a $250,000 matching challenge to support its Family Center Expansion. “We were thrilled to receive the matching challenge, and we’re even more thrilled by how our community responded,” said Madison Area YMCA CEO Diane Mann of the outcome of the challenge, which ended on Monday, Nov. 11th.
An anonymous donor mounted the challenge this summer to help raise funds for the Y’s new eight-lane pool, basketball gym and expanded fitness center. “Our community rallied to this challenge with many donors stepping up to help us achieve this important goal,” Ms. Mann said.
Saying he is “thrilled” with the outcome, Board Chair Scot Guempel thanked the community for demonstrating its commitment to the $16M project. “This project will require the efforts of all of us, and our donors this fall showed how important our Y is to this community,” he said, noting that the capital campaign will continue into 2020. Including the funds raised during the challenge, the Capital Campaign “has raised nearly $7.3M to date,” added Ms. Mann.
The “Our Community Our Future” community fundraising campaign is helping expand the Family Center and the Y’s program capacity to meet the growing needs of children, teens and adults for decades to come. The facility expansion project includes a new aquatics center with an 8-lane competitive pool and spectator section, a full-court/two side court basketball gymnasium and spectator areas, expanded fitness and wellness spaces, additional multi-use spaces, increased on-site parking, and a second entrance and lobby.
Just as the generosity of community members of the past made the current facility possible, several options still exist to leave your legacy that will serve our generation and the next. Gifts of any size are appreciated. Special opportunities in the Mosaic Path to the Future recognition program include nameplates: $1,000+ Bronze level; $2,500+ Silver level; $5,000+ Gold level and $10,000+ Platinum level. Additional naming opportunities are also available.
