Area Dentist Achieves Standard Laser Certification Status

MADISON, NJ - Dr. Allison M. Adams of Madison successfully completed Standard Proficiency Dental Laser Certification by formally demonstrating knowledge and clinical proficiency in laser dentistry. The ALD Standard Proficiency certification program includes 12 hours of lecture with hands-on demonstration and two examinations, one clinical simulation exam plus a multiple choice test. It is the structured educational mechanism recognized by regulatory agencies and organized dentistry designed for dentists wishing to achieve and demonstrate high standards of safe and effective dental laser care for patients. The examination complies with the Curriculum Guidelines and Standards for Dental Laser Education, formulated in July 1992 and updated in October 1998 by a group of individuals from dental academia, industry, and private practice, and endorsed by more than 100 organizations worldwide.

This Standard Proficiency course and certification program was administered by an Academy of Laser Dentistry Recognized Course Provider, Dr. Robert Convissar, on May 19 and 20, 2017, in Clifton, NJ. The course was sponsored by the Raphael Center for Integrative Education.

The Academy of Laser Dentistry is an international professional membership association of dental practitioners and supporting organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of patients through the safe and effective use of laser technology. The Academy is devoted to clinical education, research and the development of standards and guidelines. The Academy was incorporated in 1993 following the merger of the American Academy of Laser Dentistry, the International Academy of Laser Dentistry and the North American Academy of Laser Dentistry.
