Auditions for Madison Resident Performers

MADISON, NJ - Open to all ages 14-21  The Madison Department of Recreation, in partnership with Playwrights Theatre announces auditions for the Summer Recreation musical Side By Side by Sondheim.  This is a wonderful musical revue featuring songs that Stephen Sondheim contributed to. Including some from Follies,A Little Night Music, Gypsy and West Side Story.

Auditions: Thursday June 13th, 2013 between 4- 7 PM in the meeting room at the Playwrights Theatre offices . The offices are in the lower level of the front building of The Madison Civic Center, 28 Walnut Street, Madison 07940.  Please prepare a song to sing for us (no monologue is necessary as this is a musical revue). Bring either sheet music in your key, recorded accompaniment, or you may sing a capella. Dancers who don't sing are welcome to come by as well. We may add some dance into a few numbers! (Call if you cannot make it to the Thursday night audition. )

Performance Dates (at Madison High School):

Thursday, July 25th at 7:30 pm

Friday, July 26th  7:30 pm

Saturday, July 27th 2:00 pm.

Rehearsals: Monday-Friday 6-9:30 pm beginning June 25 (not everyone will be called for every rehearsal). Possible rehearsals Saturday and Sunday July 20 and 21 (weekend prior to opening). Rehearsals will be held at Madison Civic Center, 28 Walnut Street, Madison, NJ on the 2nd Floor above the Health Department.

Audition Procedure:  Advanced sign up is recommended (though last minute auditioners will be accommodated as time permits). Interested performers can sign up either by E-mail to auditions@ptnj.org (include name, desired audition date, and phone number), or by phone at 973-514-1787 x13 (include name, audition time you would like, e-mail and phone number on answering service) All appointments will be acknowledged via e-mail.

Other Ways to Get Involved: Students who are interested in Stage Management, assisting with lights, sound or scenery please contact us as well.  We are looking for people of all ages to build/paint scenery, or assist with costumes or props-- for one day or the whole project.  Those interested can send an e-mail to dconstance@ptnj.org, leave a message at 973-514-1787 x13
