MADISON, NJ - The Madison Boys’ soccer team will move on in the Morris County tournament following a preliminary round win over twenty-sixth-seeded Kinnelon Saturday afternoon. The victory comes after Madison beat Kinnelon 7-1 last week in regular play as well.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half, but seventh-seeded Madison bounced back with a well-deserved goal early in the second half. Senior Trevor Klosinski delivered a great cross in front of the goal to senior Lucas DiGiacomo, who finished it off to give Madison the first lead of the game. Klosinski didn’t stop there, and chipped a second goal over the head of Kinnelon’s goalie just a minute later.
The Dodgers dominated much of the rest of the game. Eventually, DiGiacomo put in a third goal to expand the lead further.
Numerous impressive saves and a great game by junior goalie Brendan Armstrong kept Kinnelon scoreless. The final was 3-0.
Madison’s next game comes Tuesday against Mountain Lakes, and next weekend, they will play for a spot in the first official round of the tournament Sunday against the winner of Morristown-Beard and Morris Hills, who play Sunday.
