On November 7, 2018, at 11:17 AM Chatham Borough Police responded to Coleman Avenue on a reported suspicious package left in a resident’s driveway. The package appeared to be a small shaving cream canister wrapped with electrical tape and wire simulating an explosive device.

The area was cordoned off and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called out to assess the package. The Bomb Squad x-rayed the package and it was determined that it was not dangerous. The device was seized as the Chatham Borough Detective Bureau continues to investigate. Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the NJ Department of Homeland Security were notified.

Chatham Borough Chief Brian Gibbons would like to remind everyone to follow the Homeland Security campaign “if you see something, say something” and report any suspicious activity.
