DUNELLEN, NJ - McKenna O'Connor, Molly Coyne, and Veronica Quidore each scored a goal in the first period, sparking the Chatham girls ice hockey team to a 5-1 state playoff win over Madison on Thursday at the Rock Ice Pavillion.

Chatham advances to meet Trinity Hall in the second round, 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the Red Bank Armory.

Audrey Van Wie converted a pass from Coyne to score in the second period and stake Chatham to a 4-0 advantage. Campbell Ragins added a goal in the third period for the Cougars.

Cate Gallagher and Hannah Bedell were each credited with two assists for Chatham, which received an assist apiece from Lauren Arias, Ragins, Miai Horowitz and Kara Groh. Grace Zinn stopped 12 shots in goal for the Cougars.

Josie Piacente scored in the third period for Madison.
