Children's Cough Syrup Recall Announced by Local Retailers

MADISON, NJ — Stop & Shop Supermarket Company, among others, is warning consumers that some packages of Cherry Flavor CareOne Children’s Mucus Relief Cough (4 oz.) have dose cups with incorrect markings, which could potentially result in an overdose. The company issued a recall telling customers that they could return the impacted product to stores for a full refund.

Stop & Shop said that, out of an abundance of caution, it is pulling all date codes from its shelves, but only product with an expiration date of 3/17 is impacted.

The cough syrup, manufactured by The Perrigo Company, is also distributed by other large retailers such as CVS and Rite-aid, under other brand names. The recall also includes the grape flavor syrup.  All lots recalled to date by retailers have a 3/2017 exp. date.
