MORRISTOWN, NJ — The Church of God In Christ For All Saints (COGICFAS) successfully met its goal in the distribution of 1,400 food boxes on last Thursday, October 22, 2020. They have announced their commitment to distribute 1,400 more food boxes again to the local community deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Food boxes will be distributed on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 1 pm – 6 pm. Those in need are strongly encouraged to reserve their boxes through Eventbrite (max. 4 per household): www.COGICFASCares.eventbrite.com. Walk-ins will be served after all reserved boxes have been distributed. Spanish-speaking residents can call (973) 936-8891 for assistance with registering. Masks must be worn at all times and social distancing will be implemented.

“We successfully met our goal of distributing 1,400 boxes to those in need. Our next milestone is to reach even more individuals through extending partnerships with local churches and community organizations who will distribute the boxes within their congregants and clients,” said Rev. Robert C. Rogers, Pastor of the Church of God In Christ for All Saints.

“The coordinated efforts with our volunteers in our church and within our community was vital to our success”, said Penny Lopez, Coordinator. “Many of our volunteers said they heard about our food program and had an instant desire to serve. With their assistance, we were successful in ensuring every box met every need”.

Farmers to Families distributes goods to non-profit, faith-based and community organizations as part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Under this Act, the USDA purchases and distributes up to $4 billion in fresh produce, dairy, vegetables and meats from American producers.

COGICFAS is a faith-based organization with a brave initiative: Inviting people, to experience God’s power, to win at life. They are deeply embedded in the community for over 95 years with programs such as Community Health Day, a collaboration with Morristown Medical Center for over 25 years providing health and wellness information and various health screenings; Operation Love for over 30 years, providing food, clothing and toiletries to those in need during the Christmas holiday; and the Tutorial program, for over 7 years, with a goal to increase the number of students reading on grade level, homework assistance, group and one-on-one tutoring.

The Church of God and Christ for All Saints and the Farmers to Families program both share an aligned mission to help those within the community that have been marginalized and underserved.

Volunteers are in great demand for this effort, and seeking trailer unloaders, organizers, distributors, car loaders and delivery drivers for their food distribution. Please sign-up at http://www.tinyurl.com/COGICFASGIVES
