DePierro’s Walk Off Single Lifts Madison to a 4-3 Victory Over Morristown-Beard

MADISON, NJ — Madison DePierro’s walk off single in the bottom of the 8th inning lead the Madison Dodgers to a 4-3 win over Morristown-Beard on Monday evening. It is their second straight win to start the season and improve to a record of 2-0.

The Dodgers led the way for most of the game, leading 1-0 through five innings. However, Morristown Beard came out in the top of the 6th and knocked in three runs to take a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, it was the Dodgers turn to score some runs. Clean up hitter Amanda Granato hit a single, which would score two runs to tie things up at three and send the game into extra innings.

That’s when Madison DePierro, in the bottom of the 8th, knocked in the game-winning RBI with a single that would allow Camille Miller to score.

Kelly Edwards was the winning pitcher for the Dodgers, throwing seven innings and allowing only four hits, two walks, and two runs.  

The Dodgers will look to stay undefeated when they play Villa Walsh on Wednesday, April 5 at 4:00 p.m.
