Mountain Lakes, NJ - Despite a 14-0 halftime lead, the Madison High School football team dropped its first game of the season in a 27-21 road loss to Mountain Lakes Friday night.

Mountain Lakes made it a 14-7 game with 9:40 left in the third quarter. Madison answered and went ahead by two touchdowns at 21-7. 

The Herd rallied and got within seven at 21-14 with 39 seconds left in the third quarter. Mountain Lakes tied the game at 21-21 with 9:42 to go, and then took its first lead with eight seconds remaining in the game.

Mountain Lakes is now 2-0 on the season. Madison will look to rebound at Hackettstown on Sept. 20.
