MADISON, NJ - Drew University was placed under lock down Wednesday evening at approximately 7p.m. for "precautionary reasons" according to Madison Police Department Lt. John Miscia after a "call was received about a suspicious person who might have a knife."
The university sent out an alert to the campus population stating, "a threat of a former student dressed in black and possibly armed with a knife wearing a hoodie and ski mask reported in the vicinity of Hoyt Dorm and Madison Avenue area."
Madison Police Department "quickly identified the suspect and ascertained that no weapon was involved. We also determined that no students were at risk and there was no evidence of any criminal act that took place. The suspect was located and interviewed. Campus was opened approximately 1 hr later," added Miscia.
