MADISON, NJ - The National Premier Soccer League is the third-tier of the American soccer pyramid, only behind the standard, MLS, and the United Soccer League.
And of its 98 teams scattered throughout the country, the top team can be found in the area.
FC Motown – in its first year playing under the Morristown name at Drew University – wrapped up the NPSL-Keystone title on Tuesdaynight, as it defeated the Electric City Shock by a 7-0 crown to move to 9-0-0 on the season. Montville High School product Dilly Duka and Sayreville native Kene Eze each scored two goals apiece to pace the winners.
“ We are one of the hottest teams in the country and control our own destiny to secure home field throughout the grueling NPSL playoffs. It makes a huge difference having teams like the Cosmos, Westchester FC, Laredo Heat and Ann Arbor FC having to come through Drew University to advance," said Duka.
Currently ranked number one in the entire league, FC Motown is one of only three unbeaten and untied teams in the entire circuit. The locals will go for a perfect regular season on Saturday night, when they take on West Chester United at Drew University. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 PM.
