MADISON, NJ – Four firefighters were sworn in as lieutenants at the Monday, Dec. 12, Borough Council meeting.

Mayor Robert Conley announced that the new positions of lieutenant were approved at the previous council meeting.  The positions were awarded to Brian Tappen, Kyle Whitman, Kevin Williams and James Blair.

The entire department, plus family members, were all on hand to congratulate the officers.

Mayor Conley also proclaimed the holiday warning to do not drink and drive, with the theme ‘drive sober or get pulled over.’ He noted the proclamation extends until Jan. 1. Drunk driving has resulted in $37 billion in costs to the country, he said. Police Sergeant Sean Plunstead accepted the proclamation.
