MORRISTOWN, NJ - GOBBLE GOBBLE – Its’ Time To Sign Up for the Interfaith Food Pantry and Literacy Volunteers of Morris County’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot!

Registration is now open for the Interfaith Food Pantry (IFP) and Literacy Volunteers of Morris County (LVMC)’s 10th Annual Morris Township Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, which will begin promptly at 8:30am on Thursday, Nov. 24, at the Ginty Field Complex in Morris Township.  The USATF-certified 5k, 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run and Kids’ Trot  has become a Thanksgiving tradition for people of all ages and abilities and continues to grow.  In 2015, the event drew over 3,000 registrants.  On-site registration for the rain-or-shine event opens at 7:00am, however participants are encouraged to avoid the lines and register in advance at morristownshipturkeytrot.org. 

This year’s race is sponsored by Dixon Energy, North Jersey Development Group, and Atlantic Sports Health, the Official Health Care Sponsor of the Trot.  In conjunction with their sponsorship, Atlantic Sports Health is also offering a free  “Couch-to-5k” program at their 111 Madison Avenue, Morristown location.  This program is aimed at helping people who have never run a 5k before train for the trot.  Though two of the three sessions have already taken place,  there is still time to register for the third, which will be held on November 2nd.  Registration information and details can be found on the race website at morristownshipturkeytrot.org

Proceeds from the Trot are shared between the LVMC and IFP and  benefit many Morris County families in need of assistance.  The IFP currently serves more than 2,000 households each month, providing food, nutrition education, counseling and referral services, and the LVMC offers free one-on-one and small group tutoring in basic English and ESL to more than 500 Morris County adults.
