To the editor:

I moved to Madison last year and this will be my second general election here. In a local race, especially for a borough the size of Madison, it does not matter as much what party a candidate belongs to. It matters what they do for the community. And with that in mind, I would encourage my neighbors to vote for Rob Catalanello for Mayor, as well as Kathy Dailey and Pat Rowe for Borough Council.

I’ve met Rob a few times and he’s certainly qualified to lead. Having an MBA from the Wharton School, serving as President and CEO of a tech firm, and acting as a leader for the borough during multiple terms on the borough council all speak to this. His professional resume is impressive, but even more important is his commitment to making Madison more affordable for younger residents like me, senior citizens on a fixed income, and everybody in between.

When I first moved here, I met Kathy at a local event and we quickly became friends. She was one of the first people that I met in my new community, and she truly embodied the “welcoming community” attitude that the current council has claimed to support. In her volunteerism, Kathy has been nothing short of a leader in the community here in Madison for many years already. She’s been a leader in Boy Scout Troop 7, teaching the youth of Madison life skills that will serve them for their entire lives. She’s also been an active volunteer in her church, including working with senior citizens and the homeless population. She deserves a chance to give back to her community in an official capacity. I voted for her in her first run last year and look forward to doing so again this year.

And of course, there is the one incumbent on the ticket. Pat has consistently proven himself to be a thoughtful and level head on the council. While some of the other members have pushed policies that reflect trends popular in California, Pat has focused on the people of the community he serves. I can appreciate when an official remains committed to representing the people who elected him, instead of looking to their next run. With this in mind, I wholeheartedly endorse his re-election bid.

Please vote for Rob for Mayor, and Pat and Kathy for Borough Council.

Thank you,

C.M. Gabbett
