Local Scholarship Now Accepting Applications

MORRISTOWN, NJ– Monk's Home Improvements is to award five scholarships to community service leaders

Monk's Home Improvements is currently accepting applications for the third annual Monk's Home Improvements Service Scholarship Award.

College-bound, or continuing college students who have demonstrated a leadership role in community service are encouraged to apply. Five scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000, will be awarded. Applicants must reside locally and have plans to attend an accredited college or university for the 2016-2017 school year.

“This is the third year of the scholarship” explains Ty Monk, founder of Monk’s Home Improvements. “Over the past two years we have been able to award 10 very deserving students with college scholarships. The scholarship recipients have helped their community in a variety of inspiring ways.”

Monk adds, “The idea behind the Monk’s Service Scholarship is to give something back to the people who have given their time and energy to bettering their community.”

Last year’s Monk’s Service Scholarship awarded graduates of Governor Livingston High School, Union County Academy for Information Technology, Chatham High School, Watchung Hills Regional High School and Scotch Plains Fanwood High School.

These five outstanding individuals include EMT volunteers, a volunteer at the Chelsea Nursing Home in Warren, a TryCAN volunteer mentor, and American Cancer Society volunteers, among other community endeavors.

The application process is entirely online and consists of a few basic questions along with an essay question. For more information or to apply online, please visit

Monk’s Home Improvements is a family-owned home improvements company that has been in business since 2007. Monk’s provides home improvement services including painting, carpentry, tiling, floor refinishing and floor installation, windows & doors, custom closets, and kitchen & bath remodeling. The Monk’s Design Studio offers kitchen and bath design, as well as materials, in their large Morristown showroom.
