The Madison Area YMCA celebrates National Volunteer Month by inviting people to explore opportunities to give back and make a difference in our community. During the month of April, the Madison Area YMCA joins the nation in encouraging individuals to seek ways to give back, while honoring those who dedicate themselves to helping strengthen communities.

Volunteers are a critical part of how the Madison Area YMCA transforms lives through programs and services. The Y offers individuals and families opportunities to volunteer in ways that let them connect and develop meaningful relationships, all while making an impact in communities they care about. Volunteers can take an active role in many ways at the Madison Area YMCA including coaching a sports team, fundraising, helping at the Welcome Center or Kids Central and more.

"I find it extremely rewarding to see the dedication all of our volunteers give to our Y,” said Madison Area YMCA Volunteer & Organizational Advancement Coordinator Melissa DeSalvo. “I have seen volunteers start new lives for themselves after moving from a different country, earn awards and honors for their countless hours of service and develop confidence and leadership skills through volunteering at the Y. Our volunteers are the backbone to our organization and truly help contribute to the successes of our programs."
